Turn Every Child
Into a Confident Author
A fun, hands-on 30-minute session where pupils discover
how stories are made and create one together, live in the classroom.
WHAT PUPILS DISCOVER
A Real Creative Experience
We’re Sanjeev and Sonia - authors, parents and the people behind the Rebel Rio books. We run these workshops together, bringing real stories from our own experience and a hands-on approach that gets every child involved in building a story from scratch.
What an author actually does
We explain what authors really do - planning, drafting, editing and publishing - using real examples from our own books.
The six stages of writing a book
Pupils learn a simple framework: idea, planning, drafting, editing, illustration and publishing.
Finding your superpower
Each child identifies their own strengths and interests and explores how these can inspire story ideas.
A story built live together
The class creates a full story in real time by contributing characters, settings, problems and endings.
A reading from our books
We share an extract from one of our published books, showing how ideas become finished stories.
The confidence to start writing
Children leave understanding that they can begin writing their own stories with simple ideas and rough drafts.
A whole class writes a story - in under 10 minutes
The highlight of every session. Pupils shout out names, jobs, settings and plot twists while we build a complete story on the spot. It's collaborative, fast-paced and completely owned by the class.
In past sessions, classes have created a missing person mystery, a survival adventure in a jungle, and a bus driver and fearless hero lost in Tokyo. No two stories are ever the same.
Name the characters
Pupils suggest names and decide what each character does
Set the scene
Where does the story happen? School, jungle, Tokyo - anything goes
Create the problem
Something goes missing, someone is lost, something breaks
Find the solution
The class decides how the characters overcome the challenge
Write the ending
Happy, sad, or somewhere in between - the class chooses
Who we are
Two authors. One shared mission.
We are Sanjeev and Sonia, the authors behind the Rebel Rio series - six books following two young entrepreneurs named Rio (and Jessie) who both explore real-world ideas like photography, business, problem-solving and creativity.
Everything we share in our workshops comes directly from our own writing and publishing journey. We show pupils how stories begin with simple ideas and grow into finished books that are printed and shared with readers.
Rebel Rio books introduce entrepreneurship, financial awareness and creative thinking in a way that is fun, age-appropriate and accessible for primary school pupils.
